Here’s a way to end a job on a sweet note. Chris Holmes, an immigration officer for Border Force at Stansted Airport, London, laboured over his resignation letter – not by thinking of what to write, but through piping and icing his letter on a cake he had baked.

Holmes submitted his resignation letter on a delicious choice of a passion cake, which is a spiced carrot cake with pecans, sultanas and coconut. It was topped with white frosting as a base to write out his letter. Addressing his letter "To The Management", Holmes wrote: "Having recently become a father I now realise how precious life is and how important it is to spend my time doing something that makes me, and other people, happy. For that reason, I hereby give notice of my resignation, in order that I may devote my time and energy to my family, and my cake business.” The Guardian reported.
Despite the uncertainty of the economy, Holmes believes that passion will fuel him ahead. "Timing-wise, it's quite a risk [to launch a business] with the economy as it is at the moment. But I have looked at the books time and again and every way I look at it, it is viable as a sole employment," Holmes was quoted as saying by The Guardian. The passion cake he chose was to reflect how he “was following (his) passion.” He further quipped.
And he may well off be to a good start despite the economy. Holmes's phone has been ringing and emails pinging all day, he said to The Guardian. However, zero requests for resignation cakes have been made so far.
